Cover-Up Method for Equations

To solve equations with the cover-up method students use their fingers to cover the term containing x. The question is then what value is hidden to make the equation true, and what this means for the value of the variable.

If the braille reader has difficulties using their fingers it is possible to use tape to hide variables printed in braille on paper. Although braille characters can sometimes be felt through the tape, this is not a significant issue since the purpose of the exercise remains clear. Alternatively you can scratch the braille slightly to hide the underlying characters.

Example

Which number will make the equality true?
